I had expected another Chee or Leaphorn story. This is more of an adventure, than a mystery. The story is set at the tail end of the Vietnam war, the protagonist, Moon Methias, is searching for the daughter of his deceased brother. In the process of finding his neice, he also finds himself. The book is about him remaking himself through adventure that mounts, he persists in spite of himself. The reader is lead to believe the search is for the child, but much if it is about himself.

My Man Jeeves: A Collection Of Short Stories. by P. G. Wodehouse
The Jeeves stories are fun, but not all the stories in the book involve Jeeves. The book started with three of them, and ended with another. The stories in the middle were not as good, and ended with more of a down note than is typical of the Jeeves stories. Wodehouse seemed to be experimenting with a different style that didn’t work as well. Skip those.
The Jeeves stories will meet your expectations, Jeeves is a step ahead of the rest of the world and provides insights and a small surprise to every situation.

The Return of Tarzan by Edgar Rice Burroughs
This book resumes the story from the first, following Tarzan and Jane separately through most of the book. We Tarzan fall from his height of a sophisticated European back to the jungle animal. He maintains his morals and manages to return to his heights. All the loose ends are tied up this time, but it still leaves some expectations for the next volume. Tarzan seems too much of a superhero than the myth from comic and TV lore. He is both a cultured European with fluency in several languages, and the ultimate savage speaking with apes and many primitive tribes. He is unerring with spear and bow, tracker, spy, and what else? But it is still very enjoyable.

The Spellman Files by Lisa Lutz
This is the first book of the Spellmans. They are a normal family, with a family business of investigation. But they spend most of the time investigating each other. Blackmail, spying, bribery, and other black arts are a regular part of their interaction. The book is very funny and I can strongly recommend it.

The Pirates! In an Adventure with Ahab: A novel by Gideon Defoe
Another great book! The Pirate Captain has bought a boat from Cutlass Liz and payment is due! The captain comes up with hair-brained, and hilarious, schemes to gain the funds and save his crew. The characters are wonderfully odd, Defoe has a great sense of humor. This is a must read for anyone!!

Pirates interact with Darwin and The Beagle in a wild deviation from history.
Defoe has a wonderful ability to tell a story!
